We are looking for an individual who can fill the full time position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Wyoming Stargazing. The successful candidate will have a diverse background and skill set that enables them to fulfill a broad range of responsibilities which includes, but is not limited to: telescope maintenance and repair, facilitating STEM classes, bokkeeping, grant writing and fundraising, customer and vendor communications, program logistics, strategic and financial planning, and organizational leadership. So, yeah, we’re looking for a unicorn!

  • 10+ years in a leadership role
  • 10+ years of STEM teaching/tutoring 
  • 5+ years of customer facing experience
  • 5+ years of grant writing/fundraising experience
  • MS or PhD in Physics/Astronomy
  • MBA or equivalent experience 
  • Starting salary of $75k.
  • 50% of health insurance and optional disability insurance premiums
  • $100/month health stipend
  • 3% SIMPLE IRA match
  • Below Jackson Market rate housing

  • Year-round (only full-time in summer)
  • 5 total hours of work/program
  • Su elección de 3-5 programas / semana
  • Lead engaging and informative stargazing programs, solar astronomy programs, and planetarium programs.

STEM Educators

  • School calendar year & summer camps
  • Classroom-based and 1-on-1 tutoring sessions
  • Teach STEM Lessons (curriculum provided) in local elementary, middle & high schools
  • Lead/Assist with outdoor education lessons

Required experience for all jobs

  • Knowledge of STEM, specifically astronomy
  • Using telescopes to locate space based objects
  • Science and/or Math teaching and/or tutoring experience
  • Licenciatura o Licenciatura en Matemáticas o Ciencias
  • Certificación de primeros auxilios y resucitación cardiopulmonar

Stargazing Leader and STEM Educator Benefits

  • $175 per stargazing program + tips

  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to ~50lbs of equipment
  • Ability to safely drive 15 passenger vans with trailer (training provided)
  • Ability to safely hitch and unhitch trailer (training provided)
