Spring Sky

Stilson 4_3_14 smallThis week at Stargazing at Stilson there were a few new objects in the spring sky. First, we saw Mars rising above the eastern horizon. Later in the evening Messier Object 13, M13, the Hercules Globular Cluster, was visible as well. Vega, the brightest star in the constellation Lyra, was also twinkling in every color of the rainbow as its light was refracted by the Earth’s atmosphere. As the spring turns into summer these objects will become easier to view as they appear higher in the sky because of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. We hope you’ll join us for stargazing sometime soon!
