Positions Open Now for 2022/2023

Stargazing Leaders

– Year Round

– Only 5 total hours of work/program

– Your choice of 3-5 programs/week

  • Lead engaging and informative stargazing programs
  • Correctly answer most general astronomy questions
  • Locate and discuss planets and deep sky objects
  • Entertain guests to and from stargazing locations
  • Provide accurate information about the organization

STEM Educators

– School Calendar Year & Summer Camps

– One-hour classroom and tutoring sessions

– Half-day sessions in the summer

  • Teach STEM Lessons (curriculum provided) in local elementary, middle & high schools
  • Lead upper level math and science one-on-one tutoring sessions for middle & high school students
  • Lead/Assist with outdoor education lessons

Required Experience for both jobs

  • Knowledge of STEM, specifically astronomy
  • Using telescopes to locate space based objects
  • Science and/or Math teaching and/or tutoring experience
  • B.A. or B.S. in Math or Science
  • First Aid and CPR Certification

Required Qualities for both jobs

  • 21 years old
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Clean background check
  • Punctuality
  • Professional demeanor
  • Ability to safely lift and carry up to ~50lbs of equipment
  • Ability to safely drive 15 passenger vans with trailer (training provided)
  • Ability to safely hitch and unhitch trailer (training provided)

Job Benefits

  • $30/hr for STEM Teaching & Tutoring
  • $165 per stargazing program + tips
  • Subsidized housing
